Becoming a Professional racecar driver showed that Andrew Evans had both motivation and desire to follow his plan to the end. It was then that he formed a plan to start a team of his own using his growing reputation as a racecar driver. Evans formed his own team in the year 1994, and called it Team Scandia. He then recruited drivers who were among the best one can get in the auto racing industry. Among the first driver he recruited were Eric van de Poele, Eliseo Salazar, Michele Alboreto, and Fermin Velez. The reason why many talented drivers were willing to join Team Scandia was because Evans’ reputation both as an entrepreneur and a driver was impressive. Evans had to work hard for years to reach this position.
Andrew Evans’ team enjoyed some early success and these successes helped them become a team. Winning the 1995 edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring was their first major success. Andy wanted to win this event very badly, but the odd were not in his team’s favor. The team had so far not won a single endurance competition. The car they were driving was a Ferrari. Evans has soft corner for Ferrari and always drove one throughout his career as professional racecar driver. However no one driving a Ferrari has won a single 12 Hours of Sebring event since the 70s. Evans was not stopped by these obstacles and led his team to victory.
For Andrew Evans’ team 96 was a special year. During that year they managed to dominate the 1996 edition of the Indy 500. They did this by fielding seven cars which is a feat for a new team.
Team Scandia also won the 1997 edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring. They were however not able to repeat this success in the 1997 edition of the Indy 500. That did not stop them from taking the checkered flag in other events. These events included an IRL that was held on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway
